Two Steps Behind

Ever find that with every step you take, you find yourself two steps behind?

That’s me. My 2021 goals are locked in place. I have a plan to meet each goal. And they’re good goals, too! The first month of the year went rather smoothly. I paced myself, saying You can do this. It’s a piece of cake!

Then came February

If you’re like me,  something has thrown you off your game. Maybe it was that binge-worthy series you found on Netflix that stole your time. Or it could be the simple trip to the store for a few things that turn into buying enough supplies to get through Armageddon. Maybe your neighbor needs you to watch their kids for a while so they can help a relative stricken with the flu. Better yet, your spouse wants to start that project you’ve been wanting to be done for years—only they need your supervision. Any of these sound familiar? All are different with one common thread: a plan to succeed vs. an opportunity to show God’s love.

AGH!

When I set my goals for the new year and start executing my plan, I soon learned I needed margin—or wiggle room. Margin allows me to set a course, but still have room to do what God asks of me.

And isn’t that what our focus should be … shouldn’t God’s plan comes first?

There’s still time to save the year. I’m going to revisit my goals and maybe bubblewrap them with free time for safety.

How do you keep your focus when you find yourself two steps behind?

What say you?

What do you wonder about?  Are you happy … or are you doing what you never thought you’d do? Do you see consistencies … or are you all over the place? Drop me a line. I’d love to chat.
