Slowing Down with Purpose

slow downRush here. Push to get through there. Check your watch—you still may have time to fit one more stop in before you’re late.
This summer has been packed with activity, going from one state to another visiting family and friends. All of it was good, but somewhere along the way I lost a sense of purpose.
There was a day not too long ago I savored each moment because I didn’t know how many more moments were left for me.
I want balance again. What I want—need—is a sense of peace through the day. I’m done living vicariously through activities.
I’m putting everyone on notice. The checklist is gone. I am determined to enjoy today, plan for tomorrow, but not live using a checklist.
Proverbs 27:1 tells us, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” All I have is right now—today. It would be a shame if I rushed through today with my list of chores and obligations to only find I had no tomorrow.
