He sees you, he loves you, he's just like you
Many of you who know me know of the trauma I went through in April, 2011. For those of you who don’t know, that’s when they found this …
Over the years since then, I have been blessed beyond measure by stories of those, too, who have had to deal with the ordeal of healing a life after dealing with a brain tumor.
I have read countless stories on line of survivors comprehending the blessings surrounding their lives. I read of a young woman who wanted to get better so she could hold her newborn. This courageous young woman looked past the excruciating pain. She focused on the prize that waited for her.
Sadly, I’ve also connected with those who found themselves with no options left–every medical corner available to them had been turned.
I got to know these different people because of one man–Rick Franzo. Rick is the founder of Brain Tumor Talk, a Facebook page where hurting and frustrated people dealing with brain tumor tragedy can find hope and support from brain tumor survivors.
Rick didn’t stop there. He’s also an advocate on educating the community on what can happen when the brain has been disturbed. He speaks on college campuses and hosts a radio program, Catch the Brainwave, on Friday evenings on East Stroudsburg University’s WESS 90.3 radio station, sharing the stage with those who have healed after their brain tumor treatment. He’s even written a memoir, How Horseshoes Saved My Life: A Tale of Two Brain Tumors.
He’s been there. He knows what it’s like to deal with the shock that comes with a brain tumor diagnosis. He knows what it’s like to need to learn simple tasks over again, He knows these battles aren’t won easily; sound medical care, emotional support and determination are the key.
If you or someone you know is dealing with a brain tumor, seek out Rick. He sees you. He loves you. He’s just like you.
