A Rose by Any Other Name …
Some call it Karma. Some say it’s Sowing and Reaping. Others say it’s getting your Just Desserts. Whatever you call it, it’s all the same: getting what you give out. The concept is a simple one: you give … you get. And you will get more abundantly than you give.
If you plant kernels of corn, you harvest a field of corn. Easy enough. But don’t lose sight of the power and magnitude of this law of nature. It goes beyond the farm.
If you speak kindness to people, kind words will find their way back to you. And if you speak harsh and judgmental words, you will be judged harshly.
The answer: be thoughtful in your actions. Speak words that bring life to people. We never know the hardship someone is facing. Would offering others words of encouragement be so difficult?
Smile at people you see in the store. Tell the clerk who just checked you out to have a good day—and mean it!
Do it because it’s good to do. But if that isn’t a good enough reason, do it because it’s good for you. It’s the actions that will determine your life—your karma, your just desserts.
Guard your words. Offer a smile. Lend a helping hand. You never know when you’ll be in need of someone’s kindness. What a shame it’d be if all you ever passed out had been nasty judgement.
The Conversation
So simple but so true. How do we miss this so often?
Thank you Robin. Good post. It’s fun to surprise people and smile, and say hi. I watch the cashier, while I wait in line. If they look like they are having a tough time, I complement them on handling a tough situation really well. I try to remember before I walk away from someone to tell them to have a blessed day. This always makes me feel good too. God bless you. 😉
Thanks, Jann, for the comment. Kindness takes very little effort but can leave a lasting impression. On the other hand, bitterness and ugly behaviors also can have long lasting consequences. Knowing that my actions can change someone’s day, why not choose to make that change positive?
